Peter Matkovich, the world’s leading “land listener”

After a successful international golf career alongside champions like Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, Peter Matkovich found his true calling as a golf course designer. His uniquely organic design philosophy, which he describes as "listening to the land", has helped him successfully create courses that have won acclaim and affection across Southern Africa.

Talking about his experience designing Mont Choisy Le Golf, he explains that "16 years ago, I walked for the first time along the beautiful "Allée des Flamboyants", leading to the old Mont Choisy estate. Looking at this pleasant landscape, covered with undulating sugarcane fields, I began to dream about building an 18-hole golf course here, one that would naturally stand out".
